The Ten Worlds in Art
Changing the vital condition is equivalent to changing the space-time dimension.
Today we have the ability to communicate in real time with people on the other side of the planet, and also in space, we move through the air, land and sea at incredible speeds, we do daily things that were unthinkable just a few decades ago, yet we don't it is easy to accept that, the world we see is not the only one.
With this artistic project, derived from the millennial theory of the Ten Worlds, a Chinese Mahāyāna Buddhist doctrine, elaborated within the Tiāntái school towards the sixth century, in addition to the themes concerning personal and social improvementI wish to express the multiplicity and simultaneity of human vital conditions, i.e. mutual possession, or rather that each world contains all the others. I intend to associate ancient Buddhist knowledge with modern scientific theories of quantum mechanics and parallel modes.
In reality, the facts that happen to us are not fixed and immutable, life, both physical and spiritual, presents itself as something malleable. A thing endowed with multiple possibilities of manifesting itself at the same time and in the same space.
The vital condition in which we find ourselves determines how we see and experience the world, but human vital conditions are all there, present at the same time, it is up to us to choose the right one, it is up to us to decide in which world we want to live. When we are aware of the reality of phenomena we can open a passage outside our space-time, admire all parts of us and choose the one we want to manifest. We can merge our sick body with the healthy one from another world and bring out a new, reinvigorated man, ready to face anything with grit.
With The Ten Worlds in ArtI wanted to create one visual map which allows you to understand where you are at that moment with respect to the varied range of emotions that characterize human life.
The project THE TEN WORLDS in ART (a prismatic vision of reality) consists of a series of themed exhibitions concerning the ten worlds and their interchangeability. The exhibitions in total 11 take place in always different private and public places and have the aim of sensitize the entire community to art, culture and knowledge of the inner self through a new and personal pictorial representation of the Buddhist philosophy which inspired me.
View of the installation consisting of 100 paintings on paper 18 x 24 cm each.
The series is not for sale but is available for cultural events and exhibitions. Also on Saatchi Art there are open edition prints of various sizes, on canvas or paper. If you have special requests or would like more information write me on angelorossiarte@gmail.com
The first theme proposed is THE WORLD OF HUMANITY because its neutrality and centrality is a starting point for me.
The World of Humanity is characterized by calm, awareness and the ability to distinguish good from evil . In the study of the Buddhist theory of the Ten Worlds, by convention it is customary to consider human vital conditions starting from the most basic, the most instinctive and earthly ones to gradually arrive at the highest, the lightest and most enlightened ones. The condition of Humanity is central to the other vital states and it seemed to me an excellent starting point to make people understand that in reality there is no better or worse vital state than another because each contains all the others.
Like most people, myself for a long time, I mainly relied on low life conditions such as anguish, greed, instinct and anger and took years of meditation and study to begin to feel some inner tranquility.
Even if we are in a historical moment of great spiritual elevation , many people still live instinctively, many think that it is impossible to change oneself and the things that happen to us and therefore are easily conditioned by events.
I like to think that each of us can start from our own humanity from our natural capacity as a human being .
We can also remain quietly seated in an armchair but what matters is that from that position we begin to activate our latent potentials.
In an armchair in the tranquility of our home we can study, we can meditate , and perhaps we can help someone and move towards a life state of greater elevation and liberation.
The images presented for this exhibition express a vital condition of humanity mirrored in the other nine vital conditions. Inspired by personally lived experiences, observing my life and the world around me over the span of about twenty years, I represented subjects in peace and rest, sunken, fused with the armchair. Pink is the dominant color because it expresses motherhood, tenderness and kindness.
With this project I wish to offer visitors an experience through which everyone can undertake a profound inner improvement through the Buddhist art and concepts it conveys by giving the individual an opportunity to achieve peace and prosperity in our community and consequently to the whole society.

THE WORLD OF ECSTASY
The human being has ten vital conditions or states of mind that follow one another continuously in daily life, conditioning personal and collective relationships in every area.
These moods are in themselves neutral , they all serve existence and the important thing is not to rely exclusively on one or more of them, in particular the first four.
Most of humanity lives in the first six conditions characterized by anguish, greed, instinct, anger, tranquility and ecstasy. The various misfortunes of the planet arise from the behavior of those who live conditioned by these states of mind; pollution, cataclysms, wars.
At this time in history there is an increase in awareness that many people are orienting their lives towards higher moods; that of learning , characterized by the spirit of research, realization or intuition , which we obtain when we have a brilliant idea, the vital condition of those who have a sincere and disinterested compassion , and the vital state of absolute Freedom independent of fears and prejudices that allows us to see the reality of the phenomena and feel to be one with the planet and with those who seem so different from us.
The palaces are the subject chosen to represent this condition as they metaphorically represent the joy obtained from the realization of a material or spiritual desire. Blue is the dominant color, a color that shares elevation, spirituality and eternity with the sky, inviting meditation and calm.
THE WORLD OF HELL. Lack of the ability to act or think freely, self-destruction, suicide, depression, worry and pessimism, distress.
With this vital state there is not the slightest strength left to change things, no hope for the future, no freedom.
According to Buddhism, hell is not confined to the earth or some other place, where one ends up after death, but it is a state of suffering of the self that is projected onto the external environment.
However, hell, like the other vital states, contains a positive aspect, suffering can be a form of protection for a person from worse evils and moreover those who have suffered are able to notice the suffering of others to help.
THE WORLD OF ANIMALITY. Animality is stupidity. Those who find themselves in this world are dominated by instincts, follow the law of the jungle, the strong devour the weak and when the animal desire is obtained, satisfaction is felt.
The ego in this condition is comparable to an animal, the actions are guided by stupidity and unconsciousness, one is not worried about the consequences of one's actions, one makes senseless use of nature and one's environment, leaving behind scorched earth. The foundations of one's own existence are destroyed by losing control over one's destiny. Running towards an abyss perceived as a goal and goal.
The race to the void, the clenching teeth, the masks and the animalistic loves are representations of a desire for self-interest and individual selfishness that becomes collective, bringing the masses to a stage of impulsiveness and ugliness that degrades them with respect to the human dignity that should characterize them. .
Despite this, in this condition of unconsciousness there is an overwhelming change, which I express in my paintings through color. In this series, blood red is generally painted together with green which recalls vegetation and expresses growth, youth, prosperity, constancy and renewal.
